South House Alpacas Gift Guide:
Gift Sustainably This Christmas
It only seems like a minute ago we celebrating Christmas, but nevertheless our favourite time of year is coming round fast again and before you know it we’ll be putting the tree up again for the festive period.
With all the events of the past 2 years, and climate change getting increasingly worse, we’ve made the decision at South House to have a sustainable Christmas, you can read our blog on that here. But one of the areas we talked about in the blog was gifting sustainably, whether that’s crafting your own presents or shopping sustainably.
That’s where we come in! If you’re looking for the perfect sustainable (and gorgeous!) present we’re here to help with our lovingly created sustainable gift guide to help you have your perfect sustainable Christmas:
– from £69
Lucy & Yak are a beautiful Brighton based company who started out making tobacco pouches on a beach in New Zealand whilst travelling before returning home and making these gorgeous dungarees.
All of Lucy and Yak’s dungarees are ethically handmade by a small team in India in a new purpose-built factory. The factory itself has incredible views, is full air conditioned and has a solar panelled roof meaning that a large percentage of their clothing is made using renewable energy. And, most importantly all workers are paid a fair living wage.
The dungarees themselves are made using organic cotton twill and use low impact Oeko-tex dyes, which basically means they are non-toxic and eco-friendly.
The dungarees themselves come in all colours and patterns and come with rave reviews! If you’re looking for a unique gift that is kind to the planet, we recommend some Lucy & Yak Dungarees. – £45

7. Leiho – Bamboo fibre socks – From £12
What’s Christmas without a pair of socks? We all used to laugh about getting socks for Christmas, but now we all look forward to receiving them! The fantastic thing about Leiho is that for every pair of socks purchased, they donate a pair to the homeless. They have an idea to “make purchasing basic products more meaningful” and they do this by not only donating to those who need it most, but by creating eco-friendly items too. Their socks are made using bamboo fibres and reusable packing, all of which is sustainable sourced and ethically made.
Treat your loved ones to a thoughtful pair of socks that make a difference this Christmas
In our opinion, candles are always a lovely gift to receive. The market can seem a little saturated at times and that’s why we think it’s important to look for high quality, eco-friendly candles that not only smell gorgeous but look it too.
We love these candled from Cedar Lifestyle. Each candle is hand poured using 100% natural oils and rapeseed wax – a more sustainable alternative to soy or paraffin wax. Not only that, but for each purchase, they donate £1 to Tree App, a reforestation programme.
If you’re looking for luxurious sustainable candles this Christmas, Cedar has a wonderful range of scented candles, diffusers and wax melts
Whilst this might not be sustainable, it’s certainly a superb gift for kids to get them talking about sustainability. The book contains twenty awe-inspiring stories of people saving the world alongside eye catching illustrations by Jackie Lay. From David Attenborough to Greta Thunberg, each story is bound to inspire the younger generation this Christmas and get them thinking of how they can save the planet

How g.org.e-ous do these chocolates look? G.org.e (guilt-free organic eating) are passionate about being guilt-free in “every way” and they do this by ensuring that everything about their chocolates can be enjoyed without the guilt, but still tastes like chocolate.
The handmade mouth-watering collections are made using raw, organic superfoods that are ethically sourced and encased in fully recyclable and compostable packaging.
